Attending September 9th’s Stand Up To Cancer event in Los Angeles was obviously a big deal for Shannen Doherty.
The Beverly Hills, 90210 star is battling breast cancer, so she invited a few members of her own "squad" to the fundraiser.
"Sorry, Taylor," Doherty joked to Entertainment Tonight, though it’s doubtful Taylor Swift would throw her full support behind Doherty’s group, which included her oncologist, Dr. Lawrence Piro and her husband, Kurt Iswarienko.
"I’ve been given a really interesting opportunity and one that in a way, I kind of feel blessed," Doherty, who was diagnosed in March 2015, told ET.
"Cancer has in a strange way done some amazing things for me.
"It’s allowed me to be more me, like much more in touch with who I am, and much more vulnerable and the person that I always was, but I think it got hidden behind a lot of other stuff."
Doherty and Iswarienko married in 2011, and the illness has a way of testing a relationship.
For Doherty, that turned out to be a good thing.
"My marriage was always fantastic," she continued, "but it’s even better now."
Doherty brought up the crucial point that cancer doesn’t just affect her, but her entire family as well.
"I stand here to support every single person who has cancer, and I stand here to also support the husbands and the family that has to go through it," Doherty said.
"Because it’s not just the people who have cancer. It’s the families too that go through it that it’s very hard on."
Iswarienko played down any part he’s playing as part of her squad.
"I have the easy part," he said.
"Just being a support system for her… I wish I could do it for her, you know?"
Dr. Piro confirmed that evening that Dohery has a few weeks left of treatment, and her chemotherapy – which began in July – is "nearly finished."
After the event, which was co-founded by Katie Couric, Doherty gave a heartfelt recap to her fans.
"This night meant so much to so many people including myself. I’m forever humbled by the stories I heard tonight and the people I met.
Thank you to all the amazing volunteers and crew that made this event happen," she wrote.
"Thank you to everybody at @su2c who are so dedicated in trying to find a cure and give people with cancer better alternatives.
I feel blessed to be a part of the cancer family tonight and to of witnessed such love."
